1. NAF Destroys Boko Haram’s Command, Control Centre
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its operatives of the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole have destroyed a Boko Haram Command and Control Centre in Dusula, on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.
Naija News understands that the ATF carried out the operation through Operation Green Sweep III which is aimed at targeting some identified terrorists’ positions in Borno.
2. PDP Wins Bayelsa LG Polls
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party over the weekend won the eight chairmanship positions and 105 councillorship seats in local government elections conducted by the Bayelsa Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC).
Naija News understands that the PDP emerged as winners of the positions after the main opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) boycotted the poll.
3. IPOB Reacts To Nigerian Army Checkpoints In South-East
Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have expressed rage over recent activities of officers of the Nigerian army in the South-East, particularly in Abia State.
Naija News understands that the proscribed pro-Biafra group expressed their displeasures as a followup reaction to the killing of a commercial motorcycle operator by a happy-trigger soldier in Aba.
4. Zamfara Government Sacks Emir, District Head
The Zamfara state government has sacked the Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Cika Ibrahim and the district head of Kanoma, Alhaji Ahmed Kanoma.
Naija News understands that the two paramount leaders in the state were removed after their suspension which follows an allegation of being part of armed banditry in their respective domains.
5. Sallah: What Omo-Agege Told Nigerian Muslims
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has called on Muslims to use the period of Eid el-Kabir to pray for Nigeria.
He urged the Muslims to pray for the country so as to overcome its present challenges.
6. Inferno Kills Five Children In Takwa Bay, Lagos
Five children have been killed in an inferno that attacked their home in Abagbo Village, Takwa Bay Island, Lagos.
Naija News understands that the Lagos State Police made the revelation on Sunday, in a statement that identified Folake Ogundiya, 13, and her eight-year-old sibling, Abigail; six-year-old Daniel Bakare; Chidima Achomye, two-year-old Nnamdi Achomye and a-year-old Khadijat.
7. Lady Found Dead In Popular Lagos Hotel
A middle-aged lady was on Friday found dead in a popular hotel identified as Southbound Hotel in Morogbo, Lagos state.
Naija News understands that Jessica was found dead in the hotel at 2:00pm with unestablished evidence that she must have been strangled as bloodstains were found on her remains.
8. Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein Accused Of Child Sex Trafficking, Commits Suicide
Financier who was in July indicted on sex trafficking charges, Jeffrey Epstein on Friday committed suicide at a Manhattan jail.
Naija News understands that Jeffrey Epstein killed himself by hanging as his body was found on Saturday morning at Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan at roughly 7:30.
