Zamfara: Supreme Court Rejects APC’s Plea To Change Its Decision

The request by the All Progressives Congress and its candidates in the last elections in Zamfara, calling on the Supreme Court to review its last judgment in which it voided the participation of the party has been rejected by the court.

A five-man panel of the court led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, in a ruling Monday morning, struck out an application marked: SC/377/2019 filed by the APC, seeking a review of the judgment.

The request by the lawyer of the party, Robert Clarke (SAN) calling on the court to review its earlier decision was rejected by the court.

Recall that the Supreme Court had in May nullified the votes of APC in Zamfara State and ruled that the party had no candidates.

The five-member panel of justices, in a unanimous judgment, held that the party failed to conduct primary elections in accordance with the party’s rules.

The ruling of the court stated that the political party with the second-highest number of votes in the elections should be declared the winner of the polls.
