1. Buhari Govt Reveals What Is Delaying New Minimum Wage

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government has accused senior civil servants of delaying the implementation of the new national minimum wage with unrealistic demands.

This was made known by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita while speaking with newsmen on Monday at the opening ceremony of a retreat on 2017-2020 federal civil service strategy and implementation plan.

2. El-Zakzaky: Shiites Kill Top Police Officer

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiites have reportedly shot dead a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Umar Usman.

Naija News understands that the Shiites members shot the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operation during a protest in Abuja on Monday.

3. Busola Vs Fatoyinbo: IGP Takes Over Investigation

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu has ordered the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), DIG Michael Ogbizi, to take over investigations of the allegation of rape levelled against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

Naija News recalls that celebrity photographer and wife of singer Timi Dakolo, Busola, had accused the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Fatoyinbo, of raping her 20 years ago.

4. Shiite Protesters, Police Clash In Abuja

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shiites have clashed with the operatives of the Nigerian Police during a protest in Abuja on Monday.

Naija News understands that the Shiite members clashed on Monday after the group dared the government that they were ready to continue their protest until the government releases their leader, El-Zakzaky.

5. Presidential Tribunal: Court Rejects Two Witnesses As HDP Closes Case Against Buhari

The Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and its presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Ambrose Owuru on Monday, opened and closed their case before the presidential election petition tribunal.

The petitioners also tendered some documents as evidence and were able to present only one witness as the tribunal rejected two other witnesses.

6. Insecurity: Alaafin Of Oyo Writes Another Letter To President Buhari

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, on Sunday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently address the trend of killings and kidnappings ravaging the country.

The first-class monarch particularly called the President’s attention to the spate of killings and general insecurity in Yoruba land which he blamed on herdsmen and kidnappers.

7. Zamfara: Supreme Court Rejects APC’s Plea To Change Its Decision

The request by the All Progressives Congress and its candidates in the last elections in Zamfara, calling on the Supreme Court to review its last judgment in which it voided the participation of the party has been rejected by the court.

A five-man panel of the court led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, in a ruling Monday morning, struck out an application marked: SC/377/2019 filed by the APC, seeking a review of the judgment.

8. Buhari, IGP Meet Over Latest Shiites Protest

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu over the recent clash involving police and Shiites members in Abuja.

Naija News had reported that Shiite members and police clashed on Monday after the group dared the government that they were ready to continue their protest until the government considers releasing their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

9. CBN Monetary Policy Committee Meeting Holds In Abuja

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s monetary policy committee commenced a 2-day rate-setting meeting on Monday.

Naija News understands that the committee is expected to focus on the state of the economy, and decide on key monetary policy parameters.

10. Army Questions General Over Missing N400m

The Nigerian Army has begun questioning Maj. Gen. Hakeem Otiki, its former General Officer Commanding of the 8 Division, Sokoto State, in connection with the N400m said to have been stolen by escort soldiers in the division.

It is understood that the former GOC is also under close monitoring and would be brought to Abuja after been cross-examined by the Directorate of Military Intelligence, the Special Intelligence Bureau and the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police.
