1. Atiku Vs Buhari: Presidential Election Tribunal Reveals Date To Begin Hearing

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will recommence hearing on the petition filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, June 10. Indications have also emerged that the President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, is set to name her replacement in the presidential elections petition tribunal.

2. 9th Assembly: Gbajabiamila Now Has 183 Members To His Side

Femi Gbajabiamila has received a boost for the position of Speaker of the House as 183 out of the 360 members ‎of the incoming 9th House of Representatives have signed to support. This is as Gbajabiamila is said to have offered 60 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members-elect position of Chairman and deputy of committees if they vote him as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Some Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS have reportedly surrounded the premises of African Independent Television (AIT) after the station reopened Friday. The Private Television house returned on air late Friday after enduring over 24 hours of shutdown by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

Falana said this in a statement on Saturday while congratulating Daar Communications for gaining its TV and radio licenses back.

No fewer than 64 Senators-elect of the Nigerian Senate, on Saturday, endorsed Ahmed Lawan as unopposed to contest for the position of the Senate President. Naija News reports that Lawan, a senator representing Yobe North Constituency of Yobe State, is contesting against a fellow All Progressives Congress (APC) senator, Ali Ndume, representing Borno South at the Nigerian Senate.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it may petition the National Judicial Council (NJC) over Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa refusal to name her replacement in the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal. Speaking to The Punch, the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Diran Odeyemi, said Bulkachuwa’s replacement could have been announced within 24 hours after she recused herself from the tribunal.

9. Tragedy As Scores Burn To Death In Horrible Ondo Accident

At least 19 persons have been confirmed dead while several others have been left injured following a road accident on the Akure-Owo highway. Naija News understands that the incident occurred in the afternoon hours of Saturday when the passengers were burnt to death beyond recognition while on their way to the northern part of the country.

10. 21 Cult Members Arrested In Lagos

At least Twenty-One (21) members of both the Eiye and Aiye confraternities have been arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Police command. Naija News reports that the cultists were arrested by the Anti-Cultism squad of the Lagos state police command, led by their commander, CSP Uduak Udom.
