Governor Samuel Ortom Inaugurates 9th Benue Assembly

Governor Samuel Ortom has pleaded with the newly inaugurated Benue lawmakers to take their legislative duties with every iota of responsibility to the citizens who gave them the mandate.

Naija news learnt Ortom made the plea during the inauguration of the ninth Benue State House of Assembly. Ortom also charged the new legislators to collaborate with the Executive arm of government in order to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.

The governor however assured the lawmakers of his administration’s support at all time while he solicited for constructive engagements and dialogue between the Executive, Legislature and the Judicial arms of government for the actualization of set goals.

He urged the new legislators to be exemplary in their conducts, stressing that the society has placed a moral burden on them as public office holders who would be accountable to the people.

Benue APC chieftain Explains Why Audu Ogbeh Should Be In Buhari Next Cabinet

Benue APC chieftain and leader of the “Idoma for Buhari Campaign Organisation” (IBCO), Hon. Iwodi Friday Adogo has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to reappoint the immediate past Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe in his new cabinet.

Adogo who made the call in Lokoja, Kogi State, congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, on his successful inauguration for the second term in office.

The APC chieftain, however, urged him to ignore “some propagandists” asking him to jettison Ogbeh and replace him with another person in his new cabinet.

Titus Uba Emerges Benue Speaker For The Second Time

The immediate Benue State House of Assembly, Speaker Titus Uba representing Kyan constituency has been re-elected for a second time.

The Deputy Speaker, Christopher Adaji, of Ohinmini State Constituency was also re-elected. Naija news recalls that the speaker had earlier revealed that the Eighth Assembly passed 58 bills into law and adopted 62 major resolutions at a valedictory session to mark the end of the Eighth Assembly.

A member representing Oju II State Constituency, Joseph Okpanya, nominated Adaji.

After the election of the two principal officers and subsequent inauguration of members, the deputy Speaker moved a motion that sitting be adjourned till June 13. The motion was seconded by Bem Ngutyo of Tarka State Constituency.
