Gov Bagudu Bows To Pressure, Sacks Acting Chief Justice

The Kebbi state Governor, Atiku Bagudu, has appointed Muhtar Imam Jega, as the acting chief judge of the state.

Naija News recalls that Justice Jega’s predecessor was sacked on Thursday, following the alleged refusal of the State House of Assembly to confirm Her appointment as the substantive chief judge in January.

According to the embattled Justice who had earlier petitioned the National Judicial Council (NJC), before her dismissal alleged that the governor did not confirm her appointment because she is a Christian.

But in a statement, Abdulmumini Kamba,the speaker of the assembly, said lawmakers had rejected Karatu all the times the governor wrote them for approval.

Buhari: Ex-Governors Set To Make Cabinet As Tinubu’s Men Kick Against Ambode

Former State governors who failed to be re-elected are set to emerge as Ministers representing their states in President Muhammadu Buhari‘s next level cabinet.

It was gathered that former governors of Lagos, Adamawa and Bauchi states, Akinwunmi Ambode, Mohammed Bindow and Mohammed Abubakar, may make the cabinet.

According to The Punch, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) agreed that governors who could not win re-election in their states will automatically take up the ministerial slot for their respective states.

Gov Makinde May Lift Ban On Oyo NURTW (See When)

Governor Seyi Makindeof Oyo State may next week lift the ban he placed on the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers Union (NURTW).

This was made known by the National President of the NURTW, Alhaji Nojeem Yasin while speaking to newsmen after a meeting with the governor. He disclosed that Makinde had assured the leadership of his willingness to lift the ban provided the members will maintain peace in the state.

Speaking further, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, confirmed that Governor Makinde agreed to lift the ban only if peace will be maintained in the state.

He said the presence of the state security chiefs who at the meeting revealed the security situation of the union to the national president and his team made him agree that maintenance of peace and security is non-negotiable.

Next Level Cabinet: Buhari Shuns Governors As Ex-Ministers Begin ‘Intense Lobbying’

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly shut the door against state governors in the recommendation of individuals for his “Next Level” cabinet.

While the President has shunned state governors, Naija News learned that former ministers who served in President Buhari’s first tenure are currently on an intense lobbying to return to Aso Rock.

A report monitored on the Nation newspaper by Naija News, quoted a governor to have admitted Friday night that the President is coordinating the shortlist of the members of his new team all alone.

“We are awaiting the ministerial list like all Nigerians,” the governor reportedly told the newspaper.

The report added that President Buhari is also keeping his ex-ministers in suspense over their chances of returning to the cabinet with most of the former ministers hanging around Abuja, the nation’s capital, to lobby for their return to the new cabinet or simply await their fate.

Zamfara State: Police Reveals New Strategy To Address Bandits Attack

In the midst of government doubled efforts to end bandits operations in Zamfara state, the state’s new Commissioner of Police, Mr Usman Nagogo, has said that he would deploy dialogue, as against firepower, to tackle the trend.

Nagogo disclosed this information at a press briefing where he formally met with media practitioners in the state.

Naija News understands that this may not be unconnected with a Zamfara Advocacy Group’s recent visit to President Muhammadu Buhari over incessant bandits attack in the state.The activities of cattle rustlers, armed bandits and kidnappers affect many parts of the country, but the situation appears particularly bad in Zamfara. Here, the criminals are more sophisticated and daring,” he said.

The CP, who chaired the Special Committee on Disarmament and Amnesty set up by former governor Abdulaziz Yari in 2016, when he was then a Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, recalled that the committee recorded some success before it was disbanded.

FG Speaks On Fees Collected For Ministerial Appointment

The Federal Government on Friday called on Nigerians to discredit information being circulated that a certain amount of money is being collected to lobby for ministerial appointments in President Muhammadu Buhari‘s cabinet.

Naija News understands that the federal government described the information that also alleged that lobbyists collect some funds to submit the Curriculum Vitae of aspiring ministers as false.

Permanent Secretary, General Services Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Olusegun Adekunle, made the call in a statement made available to Newsmen on Friday in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Adekunle in his statement noted that the attention of the SGF had been drawn to the information being circulated.

The statement said that the untrue information making the rounds is also requesting interested Nigerians to submit their Curriculum Vitae for selection as cabinet members.

Just In: Buhari Gives Directive To CBN Over Importation Of 43 Items

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to blacklist any firm or owner caught smuggling any of the restricted 43 items into Nigeria.

CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, made this known during a meeting with oil palm producers in Abuja.

Emefiele stated that Buhari also directed the CBN to expand and provide support to firms and individuals that want to expand the production of ten different commodities in Nigeria.

Call Me ‘First Lady’, Aisha Buhai Tells Nigerians

Naija News reports that Mrs. Buhai announced her decision to be addressed as the “First Lady” of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on Thursday night, June 13, at an event held at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

This online news platform recalls that Mrs Buhari was addressed as ‘Wife of the President’ throughout the first four years tenure of her husband.
