The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will recommence hearing on the petition filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, June 10. Indications have also emerged that the President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, is set to name her replacement in the presidential elections petition tribunal.

2. Atiku Vs Buhari: PDP May Petition NJC Over Bulkachuwa

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it may petition the National Judicial Council (NJC) over Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa refusal to name her replacement in the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal. Speaking to The Punch, the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Diran Odeyemi, said Bulkachuwa’s replacement could have been announced within 24 hours after she recused herself from the tribunal.

3. Popular Herbalist Predicts Victory For PDP’s Atiku At Tribunal

A popular traditional medicine practitioner (herbalist) in Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, Igwe Onyeachonam Ofomba, has predicted that Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, in the 2019 general elections, will win at the tribunal. Naija News recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared President Muhammadu Buhari who participated in the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, winner of the February 23 Presidential election.

4. Atiku vs Buhari, Ex-VP, PDP Write Justice Bulkachuwa Over Delayed Tribunal Hearing

The legal team of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have written to the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, expressing their concern over delayed tribunal hearing. Naija News recalls that Justice Bulkachuwa recused herself from the five-man panel of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal after the PDP and Abubakar raised the alarm over her “connection” with the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.

5. Tribunal Rules In Favour Of PDP Against APC In Abia

The 2019 Governorship Election petitions tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia State, southeast Nigeria, has dismissed the petition brought before it by Uche Ogah, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and four other respondents. Justice A.L. Ogumoye, the chairman of the panel, dismissed the motion while ruling on a motion filed by Governor Ikpeazu through his legal team. The governor is the fourth respondent in the case.

6. Appeal Court Sacks Regina Daniels’ Ned Nwoko As PDP Senator-Elect

Regina Daniels‘ husband, Ned Nwoko, has been sacked by the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. Naija News understands that the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal nullified Nwoko’s emergence as the senator representing Delta North Senatorial District.

7. Osun Governorship Election: Adeleke Wins In Court

Senator Ademola Adeleke was qualified to contest the September 2018 governorship election, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has ruled today. Recall that Justice Othman Musa of the High Court in Bwari, Abuja had voided Ademola Adeleke’s candidacy for 2018 Osun election, saying that he was not qualified to contest.

8. Benue South Senatorial: Supreme Court Upholds Comrade Moro’s Election As PDP Candidate

Nigeria’s Apex Court has upheld Comrade Abba Moro has the winner of 2018 senatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue South. The Justices of the supreme court who in a unanimous decision, validated the nomination of Comrade Moro as the authentic candidate of the PDP for the Benue South senatorial district said the petition of Hon Ojobo lacked substance.
