What Buhari Told Governor Yari In Saudi Arabia

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to do his best to ensure that Nigerians live in peace.

A statement issued by Garba Shehu, Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, quoted the President to have made this when he had iftar (breaking of fast) with Abdulaziz Yari, governor of Zamfara state, in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday.

This online news platform understands that the Emir of Maradun local government in Zamfara, Garba Tambari, was also present at the iftar.

The statement said the President expressed sadness over the loss of lives and destruction of property in Zamfara.

Meanwhile, the President left Nigeria to observe umrah (lesser hajj) in Saudi on Thursday. He is expected back in the country on Tuesday.

Naija News reports that Zamfara state has suffered a series of attacks by bandits with the recent being the abduction of seven people, including a 3-month-old baby at Kanoma village in Maru local government area of the state on Tuesday unknown gunmen.

The attack came after at least 50 people were reportedly killed in four communities in the state.

Reacting to the development, Shehu quoted President Buhari as expressing determination to “ensure that justice prevails and Nigerians find peace and prosperity wherever they lived”.

Meanwhile, in a bid to curtail the attacks by bandits the federal government banned mining activities in Zamfara.
