1. APC Is Nothing Without Me – Okorocha Boasts
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is nothing in the South East without him.
The governor made this known while reacting to reports in which the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), and a chieftain of the APC, Osita Okechukwu accused him of ruining the APC in South-East.
2. Atiku Threatens To Sue Buhari’s Aide, Demands N500m
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has been reported to have asked President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide Lauretta Onochie, for an apology and N500 million for defamation.
Atiku in a letter dated May 14 and addressed to Onochie by his lawyer Mike Ozekhome, threatened to begin a N2 billion suit against her if she did not meet his demands.
3. Biafra: Buhari Not In ‘Mecca’, Nnamdi Kanu Alleges With ‘Pictorial Evidence’
The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari is not in Mecca (Makkah), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Naija News recalls that President Buhari accepted an invitation by the King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the ruler of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to perform the Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) in the Kingdom.
4. National Assembly: Dariye Receives N171m In Prison
A former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye, continues to receive the N750, 000 salary and N13.5m monthly running cost from the National Assembly, 11 months after his conviction by a Federal Capital Territory High Court.
This implies that his total earnings have risen from N85.5m in November last year to N171.1m in May.
5. PDP Insists On Frustrating Lawan/Gbajabiamila, Plots New Strategy
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reviewed its strategies to frustrate the emergence of the Senate Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan and his House of Representatives counterpart, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila respectively as the Senate President and Speaker of the House in the ninth National Assembly.
However, the South East Consultative Initiative (SECI) has equally backed the candidature of Gbajabiamila for the speakership contest less than 48 hours the faction of Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai withdrew its support for the House Leader.
6. Election Tribunal: Atiku, PDP Make Fresh Request
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have filed a fresh application for access to information contained in the smart card readers and “central server”, which it said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) used for the conduct of the disputed election.
They filed the application before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, where their petition challenging President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress’ victory at the poll is pending.
7. Atiku Vs Buhari: PDP, Atiku Speak On Plotting To Overthrow Buhari
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has told the Information minister, Lai Mohammed to come up with evidence if has any, to back his claim that he (Atiku) and the PDP were planning to overthrow President Muhammadu Buhari.
This is even as the PDP urged the Minister to stop playing to the gallery and instead, face the challenge of speaking for a government that has “failed to deliver on the promises it made to the people four years ago.”
8. Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Speaks On Remembrance Day
The Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has advised members to maintain a high degree of discipline and defiantly get committed to the cause.
The Pro-Biafra activist made this known during a Radio Biafra broadcast on Saturday.
9. Court Fixes Date For Further Hearing On Adeleke’s Death
An Osun State High Court sitting in Ede has fixed July 6th for further hearing on the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke.
The presiding Judge, Justice Ayo Oyebiyi gave the notice of adjournment after the prosecuting team led by the Acting Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Justice, Dapo Adeniji closed his case.
10. Buhari: Saraki Eyes Kwara Ministerial Position
Gbemisola Saraki, daughter of the late strongman of Kwara politics and second republic lawmaker Olusola Saraki and long-serving APC stalwart and former National Publicity Secretary of the party Alhaji Lai Mohammed are said to both be interested in the ministerial slot for Kwara State.
Like two elites athletes who have set their sights firmly on the finish line, Gbemi Saraki and Lai Mohammed are eyeing the ministerial slot for Kwara in President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term.
