Fresh attacks in Kursasa and Kurya communities in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State by some armed bandits has led to the death of no fewer than sixteen people in the villages.
A resident of Kursasa village who was identified as Usman Garba stated that the armed bandits attacked the villages around 10pm on Sunday and launched an attack on the people of the villages with dangerous weapons and ammunition.
In his account, he stated that the armed bandits killed nine persons while two others were seriously injured during the attack.
He further stated that after the attack on Kursasa village the armed bandits moved to Kurya village where the killed seven persons, mostly vigilante members who had come on a rescue mission.
“But the vigilante members in Kansas and Kurya came together to form a unifying force against the notoriously armed bandits in which one of the armed bandits was killed in the operation during the fire for fire encounter with the armed bandits.”
He called on the security operatives to come out with a way forward to stop the attack on the villagers by the armed bandits.
The Federal Government has, however, ordered the deployment of troops to the zone affected in Zamfara state.
