1. APC denies suspending Gov. Akeredolu of Ondo State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports that it has suspended Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State over alleged anti-gay party activities.

Reports had emerged that the governor has been suspended by the party after failing to respond to the query issued to him by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

2. 2023 elections: Tinubu speaks on contesting presidency

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has dismissed reports that he is planning to strengthen his presidential ambition by planting his allies in key positions at the national assembly.

President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the ruling party have endorsed Ahmed Lawan as Senate president and Femi Gbajabiamila as speaker of the house of representatives.

3. Kajuru killings: Shehu Sani says Kaduna no longer safe

Senator Shehu Sani (PRP-Kaduna Central) has lamented the attack on a popular tourist resort in Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, where two persons were killed.

The Kaduna State Police Command had on Saturday stated that: “On 20/04/19 at about 0020hrs, we received an information through DPO Kajuru that at about 2340hrs, some suspected Kidnappers armed with dangerous weapons gained entry into a recreational resort called Kajuru Castle in Kajuru Local Government Area shooting sporadically and in the process shot dead two persons including an expatriate lady and took away three others.

All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers aspiring to hold positions in the Senate and House of Representatives have intensified their campaigns ahead of the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly.

Senators-elect on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have also said they will weigh the offers on the table from the three APC senators aspiring to become the Senate President before adopting one of them.

Scores of persons have been killed while several others have been left with various degrees of injuries after multiple explosions in Sri Lanka.

It is reported that the president is set to embark on total cleansing of the house with at least 80 per cent of the current ministers and other federal appointees in his cabinet likely to go.

7. FG set to take over Onnoghen’s bank accounts

The Federal Government will, on Tuesday, start the process of taking ownership of the five bank accounts lost by the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, following his conviction last Thursday by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The CCT had, on Thursday, convicted Onnoghen on charges of breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officer by failing to declare as part of his assets the five accounts domiciled at the Wuse 2, Abuja branch of Standard Chartered Bank (Nig,) Limited.

8. I am more popular, acceptable than Atiku – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed claims by PDP’s Atiku Abubakar that he won February 23 presidential election, stressing that he is more popular and acceptable among the electorate than the ex-Vice President.

Buhari, in his response to the petition filed before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja by Atiku and the PDP, challenging the outcome of the February 23, 2019, presidential election, noted that Atiku has never won any political contest with him (Buhari).

9. Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu attacks ‘ignorant’ Keyamo

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has slammed Festus Keyamo for saying that WAEC certificate is not a prerequisite to becoming president in Nigeria.

Kanu, a pro-Biafra activist, delivered a broadcast on Saturday monitored by Naija News, which focused on the qualifications required to run for the post of the President in Nigeria in reaction to comments made Keyamo, that it is not necessarily compulsory to possess a WAEC certificate to become President of Nigeria.

10. Atiku vs Buhari: Festus Keyamo speaks on Atiku winning at tribunal

Supporters of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, have been mocked by Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Spokesperson of the President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization

Keyamo said that those believing that Atiku would defeat President Buhari at the tribunal and take over power have been deceived.
