Election Result: Atiku Holds Meeting With Obasanjo In Abeokuta

Atiku Abubakar, the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday visited ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun state. Naija News reports the meeting between the two leaders held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Though what was discussed at the meeting was not disclosed, this would be the first meeting between the two since Atiku lost the February 23rd presidential election.
Recall that in October 2018, Obasanjo reconciled with Atiku, his former Vice President and endorsed him to run for the presidency against Muhammadu Buhari of the APC and other candidates.

Shun Stealing, Corruption- Obasanjo Tells Oyo Governor-Elect, Makinde

Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has issued a strong warning to the Oyo state governor-elect, Seyi Makinde, advising him not to steal and to shun all forms of corruption.

Olusegun Obasanjo dished out his advice to the elected governor of Oyo state when he visited him at the residence of the elder statesman in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Thursday, March 14, 2019.

The former president urged Makinde to operate an all-inclusive government, stressing that the people of the state must be carried along in the decision-making of the government, adding that his administration cannot be successful without the full support and corporation of the people.

PDP Concludes Strategic Plans To Win Election Across States

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded plans to win the six states where elections were declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The Party expressed optimism that the party would be victorious in the states where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is to hold supplementary governorship elections on March 23.

The Party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Kola Ologbondiyan expressed the optimism in a statement obtained by Naija News on Thursday, March 14.  Kola Ologbondiyan was optimistic after the committee’s emergency meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.

Ologbondiyan expressed the party’s readiness for the supplementary elections. His statement also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of declaring inconclusive, states where PDP had popular support and had defeated its opponents.

Okorocha Turns Around, Begs INEC To Give Him Certificate Of Return

Rochas Okorocha, current governor of Imo state and the senator-elect in the just concluded National Assembly election has asked INEC to give him his certificate of return. Okorocha said the commission cannot seize his certificate because of a mere petition against him.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission removed his name from the list of senators-elect who received their various certificates yesterday. According to the commission, the governor was declared winner under duress.

Nigerian Senate Approves 30,000 Minimum Wage And 75,000 Penalty For Non Compliance

The Senate Committee on New National Minimum wage has approved a new minimum wage of N30,000 for workers in the country. Naija news learnt that the Senate committee met yesterday to approve this.

As earlier reported by this online medium, the committee has set Tuesday next week as the target for submission of its report to the Senate during plenary.

The Committee which is chaired by the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Francis Alimikhena, met yesterday at Senate Room 431 New Building and concurred with the members of the House of Representatives that had earlier recommended a wage of N30,000 that was later adopted by the lower chamber.

Yusuf Buhari, President Muhammadu Buhari‘s son, has completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mandatory service year. Although Yusuf’s state of service and place of primary assignment (PPA) was never disclosed, Naija News understands that he bagged his Master’s Degree in the United Kingdom in July 2016.

He and his sister, Zahra graduated from the University of Surrey, Guildford.Recall also that Yusuf and his friend, Bashir Gwandu, were severely injured while he was riding his power bike and suddenly crashed along Gwarimpa road in Abuja on December 26, 2017. Yusuf was admitted at an emergency ward at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja, the nation’s capital.  Days later, he was flown abroad for further medical treatment and returned to Nigeria in February 2018.

Take Over Oil Wells, Buhari Orders NNPC

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to take over the operatorship of the Oil Mining Lease 11 from Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).

Naija News reports that the directive was contained in a letter addressed to the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, dated March 1, 2019.

“Kindly note that the President has directed NNPC/NPDC to take over the operatorship, from Shell Petroleum Development Company, of the entire OML 11 not later than 30 April 2019, and ensure smooth re-entry given the delicate situation in Ogoniland,” the letter read.

LASEMA Speaks On Why It Ended Rescue Operations

Rescue operations have finally ended at the scene of the collapsed building which occurred at 36 Massey street, Lagos Island on Wednesday. Today, the Lagos state govt promised to pay the hospital bills for survivors.
In the last Twenty-four hours, Fifteen people have died, Forty three people suffered varying degrees of injury while others remain unaccounted for.
The three storey building located at Number thirty six Massey street, Ita Faji area of Lagos Island came down at about ten o’clock on Wednesday morning.

Naija News learnt that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA) Manager, Adeshina Tiamiyu, explaining on the reason bahind the action of commision said that the agency topped rescue operations because there is no more casualty left in the rubbles of the collapsed three storey building in Ita-Faaji area of Lagos Island, Lagos State.
