Re-deployment And Posting Of Senior Police Officers, Politically Motivated – CUPP Alleges

CUPP Accuses Acting IG Adamu Of Dancing To APC’s Tune

Opposition political parties under the aegis of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has described as a “politically manipulated and compromised list”, the recent posting and re-deployment of senior police officers by the acting Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, ahead of the general elections.

The coalition’s spokesperson, Imo Ugochinyere, in a statement on Wednesday evening alleged that the list created by the acting IGP showed that he danced to the tune of the ruling All Progressives Congress, adding that a list was sent from the presidential villa.

He said, “Few hours after we exposed the decision of the acting IGP to announce a list given to him by the Villa, he has gone ahead to announce the list. Of grave worry is the insistence of the National Leader of APC that Mr. Kayode Egbetokun must be posted to Kwara, an issue to which he should ordinarily have no contribution. “The Inspector-General of Police has succumbed and has failed the entire nation and put the entire electoral process in jeopardy.

“The Nigerian opposition rejects the postings and hereby calls on all opposition members not to recognise the politically’manipulated postings.

“The Nigerian opposition rejects the appointment of Mr Kayode Egbetokun as the Commissioner of Police Kwara State and all other Villa-instigated postings. The acting IGP has disappointed a nation eager to go out peacefully on February 16 to exercise their franchise.

“Clearly anarchy looms in the land and the plot to rig the elections is now in full gear. The acting IGP should be placed on visa ban immediately for aggravating the situation that degenerated into bedlam.”

Recall Naija News on Wednesday, reported the massive posting and re-deployment of senior police officers including AIGs and state commissioners of police.

According to Ugochinyere, opposition members and Nigerians were left with only one option of resorting to self-help in the protection of their votes.

He said the opposition was considering pulling out of the Bill Clinton Peace Accord as it is tantamount to the ruling party leading opposition leaders and Nigerians to Golgotha.

He further said the acting IGP should be held responsible in case violence breaks out during the elections.
