Police Nab Woman With New-born Baby In Anambra

Operatives of the Central Police station in Nnewi, Anambra state have apprehended Dorothy Sunday, 35 for allegedly stealing a five-day old twin baby boy.

Dorothy was alleged to have sneaked into the maternity section of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, and picked up her innocent victim while he was lying in his bay.

The mother of the baby, Happiness Mmadu 22, had left her baby in the maternity section of the hospital to wash her clothes while Dorothy decided to seize the opportunity to steal the baby boy.

The 35-year old suspect was said to have succeeded in whisking away her victim from the maternity section but ran out of luck when a nurse who works in the hospital sighted her and raised an alarm which led to her arrest.

While confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra state Police command, SP Haruna Mohammed confirmed the arrest of the suspect at about 5:30 pm, Wednesday, and assured that the baby was recovered promptly in good condition.

Haruna assured that the case is currently under investigation and that the suspect would be charged to court to face the full wrought of the law.

This is coming after the state police command recently arrested some suspected ritualists in the custody of female underwears.

Similarly, Naija News had earlier reported that the Police in Anambra has arrested four suspects for murder, robbery and motorcycle snatching in Idemili and Njikoka areas of the state.

The arrested suspects include; the murder/robbery suspects as Chimezie Aronu, 22, Uchenna Obiora, 18, and Chibuike Omankwu aged 20 years.
