An Indian Air Force trainer aircraft, Mirage-2000 has on Friday, February 1, crashed in the southern Indian city of Bengaluru.

The trainer aircraft crashed in few minutes after taking off from the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) airport.

The plane that crashed at the edge of HAL, went up in flames immediately it prematurely touched down.

Two pilots who were onboard the plane lost their lives during the crash.

An eyewitness source revealed to Naija News that one of the pilots died immediately after the crash while the other died few minutes after he arrived a nearby hospital.

Until their deaths, the pilots worked with the Air Force’s Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment unit.

As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained as an Air Force spokesperson did not have an immediate comment on the crash.

Similarly, the Air Traffic Control department of HAL declined to make comments on the crash that claimed the lives of two military pilots.

Mirage-2000 is manufactured by France’s Dassault Aviation.

It would be recalled that Naija News had earlier reported the crash of An helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Airforce, the Mi-17, that suffered mishap in the North East while on counter-insurgency duties.

The NAF aircraft crashed at about a similar date to today’s Indian Airforce’ crash.
