The Nigerian Army said on Tuesday that they had uncovered a vast plan of fraud and sabotage ahead of the February 23 legislative and presidential elections.
“Credible intelligence available to HQ 6 Div NA has uncovered an unholy plan by some political actors within its AOR to arm and sponsor miscreants in addition to using military-like fatigue dress for deception to cause pandemonium at polling stations…” reads a statement on Tuesday, February 19.

Meanwhile, Naija News had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari at a meeting of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) broadcast on national television said “I’ve already ordered the police and the army to be ruthless. We will not be held responsible … for those who decide to steal ballot boxes, or use criminals to disrupt the polls,”
A statement that has been condemned by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has accused the president of supporting extra-judicial killings.
In Nigeria, as in most African countries, the police force has always played a crucial role in the political game, especially during elections.
The general elections earlier scheduled for 16 February was postponed due to “logistical problems” by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), the general elections are now set for 23 February.
