Corruption Fight: Buhari Begs For Guidance, Prayers As He Eyes Fresh Looters

As part of the mandate by the Buhari-led administration to curb corruption in Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari has continued to raise concerns over the spate of corruption in Nigeria.

The president after a meeting with the members of Jigawa state council of traditional rulers in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital, made his plea and solicited for the prayers of Nigerians, both Christians and Muslims so as to have a victorious fight against corruption in the country.

Buhari says that fighting corruption requires the genuine guidance of God and fervent prayers, as he used the opportunity to re-emphasise his administration’s tireless efforts towards promoting peace and prosperity in the country.

Buhari, who spoke in Hausa language recalled that his first attempt to fight corruption when he was Head of State was unsuccessful because corruption, according to him fought back and he ended in jail for a period of over three years.

“When I was fighting corruption as head of state, they said I was in a hurry to wipe out corruption in the society, and I ended up in jail for over three years.

“Now, that due process is being followed in the fight against corruption they are complaining that I’m too slow.

Before, they said I was in a haste, now they are saying I’m slow – even calling me “Baba Go Slow’’.

“You can see, governing Nigeria needs God’s guidance and payers.

“Let me assure that I will not relent in the fight against corruption and I want to use this opportunity to thank you for your continuous prayers,’’ he said.

Buhari however expressed confidence that his fight against corruption will continue to yield positive results while assuring the nation that the proceeds of the monies and properties recovered from looters would be injected into the nation’s economy.
