Nigerians from the South East part of the country, have berated the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, over his latest tweet instructing ‘Biafrans‘ to stay at home on February 16, a day for Nigeria’s Presidential election.
Naija News recalls that the IPOB had in January issued a statement through its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, saying the group will boycott the forthcoming elections.
Ever since then Kanu has used several platforms including Radio Biafra and micro-blogging site, Twitter, to reecho the stance of his group on the forthcoming elections.
The IPOB leader tweeted a few minutes ago, noting that that “freedom fighting is about philosophical purity and ideological consistency not pandering to political short-termism”.
Kanu furthered that “those that wish to renew their slave status in Nigeria are free to vote”, adding that ‘Biafrans should sit at home in Biafraland (South East) on the day of the election.
The secessionist leader tweeted: “We in #IPOB recognise that freedom fighting is about philosophical purity and ideological consistency not pandering to political short-termism.
“Those that wish to renew their slave status in #Nigeria are free to vote. On February 16, 2019, #SitAtHome in Biafraland,” the tweet added.
We in #IPOB recognise that freedom fighting is about philosophical purity and ideological consistency not pandering to political short-termism.
Those that wish to renew their slave status in #Nigeria are free to vote.

Apparently displeased with the tweet, Twitter users presumed to be Igbos, took to the comment section under the post to berate the IPOB leader.
Naija News captured some of the reactions below…
Its a pity though m a biafran and i love my race @atiku is d best option we have to survive as a race if u re wise enough u would have just supported dis man for now and wen he enters govt u will have a higher bargaining power to give d best to ur people

Mazi @MaziNnamdiKanu I hope you have arrived Abia for the referendum.
You can't possibly be in the UK where the people voted for the good life you are enjoining and tell those in Biafra land to sit at home.
You have taken this #IPOB game too far.#STOPDECEIVINGBIAFRANS— Anyi (@AnyiMadubuko) February 6, 2019
Quick one;https://t.co/XDoMhVNTQg'd realise elections would go on and victors will emerge even when your followers boycott?
2.This referendum; how exactly have you planned the process? Is it verbal or subtracting the number of voters who didn't turn up from registered voters?— EDEH (@kaspervic) February 6, 2019
You can't be in England and tell us not to vote. Come back here let's see you tell us this face to face. If we don't vote and the election is rigged who looses ? Of course we loose and you don't because you are a British citizen , Oga, Biafra for now is a mirage.

He is telling u guys to vote oo… Hehehe na we go continue d wailing if buhari enter again, and nnamdi will go on exile till close to election again by 2023.. Better go Collect ur PVC bf deadline… Liv that UK man, he is living large their..
— simplexvi (@simplexvi1) February 6, 2019
And u ran away from Buhari to save your live and live for tomorrow? 2day u are in UK the home of the top Biafran enemy enjoying your good life pending when Biafra comes.
And u wish us a boycott for Buhari the man who forced you on exile to continue? Then we suffer and u enjoy UK

After collecting your share from FG. How did you move out of Nigeria, how did now move now to UK. How come FG is not interested in your treat? #igbomustvote

If u vote, u are emancipating yourself frm mental slavery, if u don't vote, u are only procrastinating your freedom, The only slaves I see here are those that will listen to nnamdi kalu that's living in UK and not vote, your votes will remove the dictator that has oppressed you.

Am not getting this anymore. Is PMB no more Jubri el Sudan again, and the issue at stake now is vote casting?. Am still watching right from outside the field.

Keep allowing this useless man to keep fooling you all. I am a proud igbo. I have never been a slave to anyone. @MBuhari is not who I want again. So I will cast my vote for @atiku he will take us to promise land, then allow this fraudster @MaziNnamdiKanu to fool us for @MBuhari
— Chybyke (@Goldicz) February 6, 2019
Mr. Kanu, your stand right now will help re-elect Buhari. It's a selfish interest because you want to remain relevant in the future with Buhari as president. Stop your attack on Atiku. Atiku has done nothing to the Igbos.
— Zoba (@chizoba_nwobodo) February 6, 2019
last i checked, the right to vote was and still is the symbol of freedom and not slavery. we want Biafra but we want little or no bloodshed. voting on Feb. 16 doesn't mean we can't still call for a referendum. Wisdom is profitable umunna

Hope you realise that whoever wins will exact his wills on you good or bad?
So while we appreciate the idea of Biafra but not voting for the best candidate to at least better the minimum requirements of nation is tantamount to folding our hands doing nothing. You're in London.— Chief Geo Lak (@unclegeo_lak) February 6, 2019
Sir, plz be serious for once? @TheMbuhari would never give restructuring but @atiku would. Why not tell your people to Atiku & give him six months to restructure? Also, do you want Biafra or restructuring? Am confused!
— Zooe_wildfire (@zooe_wildfire) February 6, 2019
Messiah syndrome, you went from a hero to an apparition. Please tell us where your parents are and why you are not concerned about their freedom.. perhaps you can also add to the details how you escaped out of Nigeria since both passports you entered Nigeria with were confiscated
— Dr. kene (@LordSherriff) February 6, 2019
If nnamdi kalu's jubril theory was a big hoax, what else could be right? Atiku being a Cameroonian?
Ndi Igbo go & listen to old veterans that fought for Biafra & be wise.
Ojukwu ran to Gabon, kalu had ran to UK, so why murder your future for a boko haram like ideology?
Be wise— #free buhari, he's tired (@Szhino1) February 6, 2019
