Embattled Sanator Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West Constituency, reportedly slumped after surrendering to the Police, 8 days after Police officers laid siege on his premises.
The senator had slumped while leaving his residence to enter the police vehicle. He was aided as he walked to the office of the federal special anti-robbery squad (FSARS).
The senator had refused to surrender to the police following attempts by the police to arrest him for a case of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide committed on 19 July, 2018.
Although Senator Melaye had earlier said he was not in the house, the police said he opened the door to the residence himself at about 3 pm today after which he was taken into custody.
Spokesman for the police Jimoh Moshood had alleged that Melaye and “his armed thugs” shot and wounded one Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, who was attached to 37 Mobile Force (PMF) on stop and search duty along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State.
