1. Lagos CP, Imohimi Edgal Redeployed, Egbetokun Takes Over

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Imohimi Edgal, has been redeployed by the police authorities. Naija News learned that Edgal who replaced Fatai Owoseni (now retired) in August 2017, was redeployed to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

2. Details Of South-South Governors Meeting On CJN Onnoghen’s Trial Emerges

South-South governors have asked Justice Walter Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), to ignore the summons by the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The five governors from the south-south, who met in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Sunday, accused President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s President of not having any regards for the feelings of the Niger Delta.

4. Onnoghen’s Trial: Buhari, APC Preparing Ahead Of ‘Imminent Loss’- Atiku

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, says the planned trial of Justice Walter Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), shows that President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) are preparing ahead of their “imminent loss” in next month’s presidential election. This comment was made on Saturday by Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communications to the PDP candidate, on “Democracy Today“, a live political programme on African Independent Television which was monitored by Naija News.

5. Onnoghen: Nigeria Not A Banana Republic- Speaker Dogara

Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon Yakubu Dogara has called for caution in the charges filed against the Chief Justice of Nigeria Hon Justice Walter Onnoghen by the Federal Government. In a statement issued Sunday, Hon Dogara said that while the House awaits further briefing from relevant agencies, nevertheless, it is important that due process is followed because Nigeria is a country governed by laws and not dictates of men.

A former Benue State Chief Justice Adun Ter Alex has described the petitioners of Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), as “stupid”. Alex, who made this comment on “Democracy Today“, a live political programme on African Independent Television which was monitored by Naija News on Saturday, said the petitioners of the CJN lack good knowledge of the country’s constitution.

7. Strike: NANS Appeals To FG To Fulfill Agreements Reached With ASUU

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has appealed to the Federal Government to fulfil agreements reached with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to ensure resumption of academic activities in public universities. NANS’ National Public Relations Officer, Mr Bestman Okereafor, made the appeal in a statement issued on Sunday in Enugu and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

8. Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Makes U-Turn, Says IPOB Will Vote In Abia, Ebonyi

The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, says members of his group will participate in the forthcoming governorship elections in Abia and Ebonyi state. Kanu who made this comment during a live interactive broadcast on radio Biafra which was monitored by Naija News on Saturday said this became imperative in order to vote out Governors Okezie Ikpeazu and Dave Umahi whom he described as “enemies of Biafra“.

9. False Asset Declaration: NBA, Others Condemn Planned Arraignment Of CJN

The Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA) and other lawyers have condemned plans by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), to try the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen. Onnoghen is set to be arraigned by the bureau at the tribunal on Monday on six counts of alleged false asset declaration at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja.

10. Maradona Operated Successfully, Remains Hospitalized

The legend of Argentine football Diego Maradona was successfully operated on Saturday and was to remain in the clinic in Buenos Aires where this surgery was planned, announced his lawyer Matias Morla. “The surgery on Diego Maradona is over, thanks to God everything went well”, tweeted the lawyer, without specifying what type of operation it was.
