Peter Obi Speaks On Atiku’s Trip To US

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)Mr. Peter Obi, stated, on Friday that the Presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, did not travel to the United States to prove a point to anybody.

Obi, while interacting with reporters at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, said Atiku travelled to Washington DC because it was necessary for him to do so.

The former governor of Anambra State expressed surprise at the dust generated by Atiku’s trip.

“Though he does over 90% of his consultations at home and among Nigerians, now and then, he has to travel to meet different groups, especially those that will be of assistance in the new Nigerian project.” he noted

Obi insisted that Atiku was in the US to ensure that he find partners to help him create jobs, reduce unemployment in Nigeria, abolish poverty and re-create the Nigerian economy.

He added that the trip was necessary to see to the desire of the former vice president to make Nigeria start working again.

“His trip is about engaging partners because he wants to hit the ground running without wasting unnecessary time.” he said.

Naija News had earlier reported that Atiku traveled to the US after 13 years, where he met with top US government officials, Business community and Nigerians living in the country.

This is, despite the speculation that the former vice president could not visit the US because he had a criminal case to answer in the country.
