Amosun, Okorocha Face APC Sanction For Anti-Party Activities

APC Moves To Suspend Okorocha, Amosun Over Anti-Party Activities

The All Progressives Congress, (APC), is reportedly perfecting plans to suspend Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and his counterpart in Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun from the party.

The duo are been accused of anti-party activities in sponsoring other governorship candidates different from APC candidates in their respective states.

Naija News recalls that the two governors have been at war with the national leadership of the APC led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole following the failure of their preferred candidate to emerge as party flag bearers in the scheduled governorship elections in Imo and Ogun states.

It was also gathered that pressure is also mounting on First Lady, Aisha Buhari, to remove the Imo governor’s wife, Mrs. Nkechi Okorocha, who is the South-East coordinator for the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign council from the APC’s 99-man Advisory Council for the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team.

The decisions are however yet to be ratified by the APC National Executive Committee (NEC).

A top-level party source told Vanguard in confidentiality that: “Rochas campaigned against the APC candidate during the women rally last Saturday. He is supporting AA and we know that the AA national chairman is also backing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku. So, APC sees this as a deceit.”

“The same thing will happen in Ogun State as the APC leadership will not tolerate such acts at all.”

“The APC sees their action as an insult to Mr. President who is the leader of the party. The AA national chairman cannot be supporting Atiku, while they are supporting AA. They cannot fool the party.’’

Governor Okorocha’s spokesman, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, however, dismissed the claim yesterday, saying it is a rumour that had been in circulation for the past five months.

Okorocha is backing his son-in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu, who is now the candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in Imo state to be governor after him while Amosun has declared support for a member of the House of Representatives, Adekunle Akinlade, candidate of Allied Peoples Movement, (APM) as his successor in Ogun state.

The two state governors have however declared their support for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari at the federal level.
