1. President Buhari to present 2019 budget to NASS next week Wednesday

President Muhammadu Buhari will present a draft of the 2019 budget to a joint sitting of the National Assembly next week Wednesday.

This information was contained in a letter addressed by the President to the lawmakers in which he informed them of his intention to lay the budget before the lawmakers next week.

2. Junaid Mohammed steps down as Donald Duke’s running mate

Weeks away from the 2019 elections, running mate to Donald Duke, Social Democratic Party (SDP) Presidential Candidate,Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has stepped down.

He said he also stepped down as the deputy national chairman of the SDP and had written letters to the chairman of the party, Chief Olu Falae and Duke.

3. CAN denies endorsing Buhari for second term

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has reacted to alleged reports the the association has endorsed President Muhammadu buhari for a second term in office as the president of Nigeria.

The Christian body made the denial in a press statement on Thursday in response to publications in certain sections of the media that it has endorsed Buhari for second term.

4. House of reps threaten to boycott Buhari’s 2019 budget presentation

Some members of the House of Representatives have reportedly threatened to be absent during the 2019 budget presentation by President Buhari.

The members are said to be aggrieved about a statement attributed to the Minister of Budget and National Planing, Udo Udoma that the lawmakers are causing a delay in the budget presentation.

5. FG says it can’t be blamed if Nigerians don’t have power supply

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has declared that the problem of power supply being experienced by Nigerians is not a Federal Government’s problem.

Fashola, spoke on Wednesday, telling his listeners that there were problems in the power sector, but reminded them that it was not the Federal Government’s problem if citizens in the country do not have electricity, especially since the sector was privatized.

6. Court ruling leaves APC without candidates for Rivers state elections

The Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division, yesterday condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State to a situation where it may not be able to field any candidate during the 2019 general elections.

This is as the court dismissed the appeal filed by the factional Rivers State APC Governorship Candidate Mr Tonye Cole.

7. Shiites mark 3 years of El-Zakzaky’s detention with protest in Abuja

A peaceful protest was today held by followers of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky to mark three years of Zaria massacre and El-Zakzaky’s detention by the Nigerian government.

The protesters, who stormed the federal secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, chanting anti-government songs and various placards with inscriptions on them, demanded the release of their leader, who has been in government detention since December 2015.

8. Buhari promises to reward hardwork and loyalty in 2019

President Muhammadu Buhari, has assured his supporters that their hardwork and loyalty would be adequately rewarded.

Buhari made this known in Abuja on Wednesday while delivering his speech at the inauguration of his support group tagged, “ Together Nigeria’’, an event that was organised by the Buhari Support Organisation.

9. Governors to meet President Buhari again over new minimum wage

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has resolved to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari again over the issue of new minimum wage.

The forum took the decision at its last meeting for 2018, presided by the chairman of Forum and Governor of Zamafara State, Abdulaziz Yari, on Thursday night in Abuja.

10. Kwara APC postpones launch of governorship campaigns

The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, postponed its plan to launch the Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s governorship election campaign over insecurity problem.

The campaign was scheduled to hold in Kosubosu, the headquarters of the Baruten Local Government Area of the state, before the abrupt cancellation.
