National Assembly workers, under the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria this Monday made good their threat to commence a four day warning strike.
Naija News learnt that the workers gathered as early as 6:30am on Monday to close all entrances leading to the national Assembly complex.
The union protest is coming two days before President Buhari is expected to address a joint sitting of the lawmakers to present the country’s 2019 budget.
Naija News also gathered that the power supply to the complex has been cut off by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN).

However supply to the Account Section of the Annex was spared with the workers allowed to do their work of preparing the next salary for the workers. Water supply to the complex was also stopped.
Naija News also learnt that the union leaders also forced workers on duty at the engineering department to cut off power supply to the complex.

Meanwhile, spokesman of the House, Abdulrasaq Namdas is hoping the National Assembly leadership will be able to persuade the staff to halt the warning strike today, but the workers have insisted only bank alerts will make them shelve the picketing.

The National Assembly workers had also about two weeks ago, staged a similar protest, preventing the lawmakers from gaining access to the chambers to hold sittings.
They were however prevailed upon by the NASS leadership who promised to look into issues raised by the aggrieved workers.
