A security guard protecting a telecommunications mast, Aliu Shekoni, has been brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for stealing 1,445 litres of diesel.
Shekoni, who resides at 895 Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Alagbado, Lagos, is facing one count of stealing. Further report revealed that accused worked as a guard attached to an MTN mast at Amje Quarters, Alagbado.
It was revealed that the 1,445 litres of diesel were discovered missing by the security supervisor after a consumption test was carried out.
In a statement by the police prosecutor, Abiola Adewale, he revealed that the stolen diesel was valued at N375,000.
Abiola said the accused committed the offence last month. He said Section 287 of the law stipulated a seven-year jail term for stealing.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty of the charge.
The presiding magistrate, Mr W. A. Salami, admitted the accused to N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate adjourned the case until December 12, 2018, for mention.
