1. President Buhari would rather lose than rig 2019 election – Adesina
President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokes man, Femi Adesina says his principal would rather lose the 2019 presidential election than rig it.
Adesina who made this statement on a TV programme while commenting on concerns raised ahead of the 2019 elections, Adesina said the process will be free and fair.
2. Jonathan reveals how Barack Obama influenced result of 2015 elections
Contained in the new book being launched today by Former president Goodluck Jonathan, is how ex-US President Barack Obama meddled in Nigeria’s 2015 presidential election.
In excerpts of his book, ‘The Transition Hours’, Jonathan said Obama sent his secretary of state, John Kerry, and made a video broadcast to Nigerians in ways designed to influence the outcome of the election against him.
3. Witness says Fayose used 3 air crafts to move N1.2b
Damola Otuyena, head of cash and transit services of Diamond Bank, has revealed how N1.2 billion was moved to Ekiti State for Ayodele Fayose, ex-governor of the state, using three air crafts.
Otuyena, who is a witness in the ongoing trial of Fayose, told the court that the money was sent to the ex-governor by Musiliu Obanikoro, a former minister of defence.
4. World leaders hail Jonathan for saving Nigeria’s democracy
World leaders and prominent Nigerians on Tuesday hailed former President Goodluck Jonathan for saving Nigeria from being plunged into war in 2015.
Eminent citizens, including President Muhammadu Buhari, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, General Abdusalam Abubakar (rtd), Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) and retired Justice Alfa Belgore described him as a great patriot and true democrat for conceding the 2015 presidential elections. They all spoke at the presentation of his book, “My Transition Hours” in Abuja.
5. Oshiomhole says police is helping PDP to intimidate APC members in some states
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is intimidating its members across its controlled states.
The national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, made this known while speaking to journalists at the party secretariat against the backdrop of events at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Monday where four more lawmakers who defected from the PDP to the APC were sacked.
6. Workers escape death as fire razes EFCC office in Abuja
Some officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission escaped death while equipment worth millions of naira was damaged after a fire broke out at the old head office of the Agency in Wuse 2 area of Abuja Monday.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it was learnt that the fire started from the ICT department which formerly served as the newsroom.
7. Sanwo-Olu says no disagreement between himself and Ambode
Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, has refuted claims that there was conflict between himself and the incumbent governor of the state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
Sanwo-Olu, despite the comment made against him by Ambode during the build up to the primary election, said that he was in good talking terms with the governor, as they meet and talk regularly.
8. Jonathan is a true democrat – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has described ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, as a true democrat for voluntarily conceding defeat at the 2015 general election.
Buhari who spoke through Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, at the launch of Jonathan’s book titled ‘My Transition Hours’ in Abuja, said Jonathan’s act of courage had made him a patriotic leader and earned popularity among Africans and other leaders.
9. Fayemi reinstates 5 permanent secretaries sacked by Fayose
Five Permanent Secretaries who were were retired prematurely in 2014 by the immediate past administration of Mr Ayodele Fayose have been recalled back to service with immediate effect by Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State.
Mr Olayinka Oyebode, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, made the reinstatement of these secretaries known in a statement made available to the press on Tuesday in Ekiti State capital, Ado-Ekiti.
10. Gunmen kidnap traditional ruler in Plateau state
The Pleteau State Police Command has made the kidnapping of a second class traditional ruler of Dorock Kingdom in Shandam Local Government Area of Plateau State, Mr. David Dongbam, known on Tuesday.
DSP Terna Tyopev, the spokesperson of the command, who made this revelation on Tuesday said that Dongbam was abducted at his residence in Shandam on Monday night.
