Families of Kidnapped victims have been admonished by the Nigerian Military to inform security agencies of demand for ransom by kidnappers.
Brig.-Gen. John Agim, the Acting Director of Defence Information, made this admonition while speaking to newsmen on the activities of Operation Sharan Daji in Gusau on Tuesday.
He stated that criminals carrying out this criminal act will be encouraged to continue with their activities, if the families of victims continue to pay ransom for kidnapped victims without the involvement of the military.
Agim, while stating that information from negotiations with kidnappers will help the military monitor and arrest the criminals, added that the families of kidnapped victims to disregard threats from kidnappers not to dislodge information to any security agencies.
Agim said intelligence and information sharing on all forms of criminality should be encouraged among communities, especially with the establishment of a civilian joint task force in the state.
The spokesman applauded the state government for creating the task force to complement the work of conventional security agencies.
Agim said efforts would be made to ensure peace was fully restored in all the areas under the coverage of Operation Sharan Daji.
The Nigerian Army launched Operation Sharan Daji to dislodge bandits who have been terrorising communities in Zamfara area, stealing and killing the people.
