Ekiti PDP lawmakers disowns Olujimi, affirms Fayose’s leadership

The 12 authentic members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ekiti State House of Assembly have joined their colleagues in the National Assembly to disown the stakeholders meeting in which Senate Minority Leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi was declared as leader of the party in the State.

The 12 lawmakers, who said the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) should question the role of Senator Olujimi in how the party lost leadership to the APC with three members, added that it was now clear who the sponsor of dissidents in the party is.

In a statement on Tuesday, signed on behalf of the lawmakers by their leader, Hon. Tunji Akinyele, the lawmakers said relegation of PDP, which has 23 members (on paper) to the position of Deputy Speaker and Minority Leader by the members supported and funded by Olujimi was the height of treachery against the party.

The 12 lawmakers, who were suspended by their supposed PDP colleagues being funded by Senator Olujimi said it should now be obvious to PDP members and supporters across the country who wanted the party dead in Ekiti State.

As far as we are concerned, those people in the House of Assembly masquerading as PDP members are members of the APC. This is because you cannot be a PDP member and be comfortable with the being led by APC with three members.

And if Olujimi is supporting them as she has demonstrated, it means she is more or less a supporter of APC in Ekiti.” The 12 Assembly men hailed the National Assembly members (excluding Olujimi), the party Exco, elected council chairmen as well as other party leaders for standing by the truth and progress of the party.

“There is no contention as to leadership of the PDP in Ekiti state, Olujimi rose to political prominence using Fayose’s political leader and we won’t let her destroy the ladder.”
